Employment Services, Education & Workforce Development:

Is a State funded service center for workers in transition between jobs; it is the most convenient way to access local unemployment service programs. Job seekers or out placed workers and HR professionals can obtain information about education, training, and employment options.

The Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) is one of 25 Michigan Works offices created by the State to simplify public and business access to important educational, training, self-help and economic development opportunities. SEMCA offers the communities of Monroe and Wayne Counties (excluding the city of Detroit) a variety of services. SEMCA is a One-Call, One-Stop system that connects individuals and businesses with the services they need—quickly and efficiently (training, substance abuse services, employer tax issues, veteran programs, unemployment and many other programs).

Founded in 1964, Monroe County Community College is a public, two-year institution supported by educational funds from the State of Michigan, and student tuition that is designed to provide educational opportunities to the surrounding area.

Habitat/Monroe is one of over 1000 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International.
Each affiliate raises funds, buys building materials, and uses volunteer labor to
construct homes. The finished home is then sold to a family in need of decent
housing. In this way Habitat forms a partnership between people with resources and
those who are less fortunate.
